Visiting Places in Mecca
PLACES TO VISIT IN MEKKE-I MÜKERRAME Mecca-i Mükarrama is among the most spiritual and sacred cities for our religion Islam. Mecca, the city where our Prophet (pbuh) honored the world, is also the place where our religion Islam first began to spread. There are many memories, holy places and places where events took place from our Prophet, our religion and our beloved companions. In this article, information will be given about these sacred places in Mecca. THE HOUSE WHERE OUR PROPHET (PBUH) WAS BORN Our Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh), who was sent as a mercy to 18 Thousand Worlds, honored the world on the 12th Monday night of the month of Rabiu-l-Awwal, which falls on the 20th of April in the year 571 AD, in the house that is now a library in Mecca. The Prophet's great grandfather, Hashim b. The house belonging to Abdümenâf is located in the Ebû Talip neighborhood today. This blessed house was built by Hashim b. With the death of Abdümenâf, it was inherited by his son Abdulmuttalib, and when Abdulmuttalib distributed his property among his children, it fell to his son Abdullah, and from there, it was inherited by our Prophet. It was passed down to Muhammad (pbuh). MASCID-I HARAM It is the name given to the large mosque that surrounds the Kaaba with domes and is open in the middle. To Masjid al-Haram; The names Harem-i Sharif, Masjid al-Sharif, Beyt-i Haram or Holy Mosque are also given. The importance of Masjid al-Haram for us Muslims is that it is the first mosque built. In the middle of Masjid al-Haram; The Kaaba, Zamzam-i Sharif well, Maqam-i Ibrahim and the area where circumambulation is performed during Hajj and Umrah are located. The reason why this holy mosque and the area where it is located is called "Haram" is because it should be treated with respect and respect. That's why it's there; All acts of suicide such as shedding blood, hunting, cutting down trees are prohibited. There are many clear statements on this subject in the Holy Quran and Hadiths. Prophet Allah says in the 5th Verse of Maide Surah: "O you who believe! Do not disrespect the signs of Allah, the sacred month, the untied and tied sacrifices, and those who turn towards the House of Al-Haram seeking the grace and consent of their Lord. You can hunt when you take off the ihram. Do not be disrespectful to a community because they prevented you from entering the Masjid al-Haram. Let it not happen, and help each other in doing good and piety, and do not help in sin and injustice, and fear Allah, for Allah is severe in punishment.” NURDAĞ AND HİRA CAVE Also known as "Cebel-i Nur", it is another sacred place located in the north-east of Mecca. The first revelation to our Prophet came in the Hira Cave located on this mountain. Nur Mountain is approximately 5 km from Masjid al-Haram. It is located in the distance. The wisdom and meaning behind its name as Mount Nurd is that the first verses of the Holy Quran, which enlightened humanity, began to be sent down to our Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh) here. Cebrail As. In this cave, he appeared to our Prophet in his original form; After saying "O Muhammad! I am Gabriel and you are the prophet of Allah Almighty", he reported the first revelation consisting of the first five verses of the Surah Alak. Thus, our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was given the duty of prophethood here. There seems to be no grass or trees on Mount Nur due to lack of water. Only a very small amount of thorny bushes are seen. The cave still exists today and is among the holy places visited by those who perform Hajj and Umrah. CENNET-ÜL MUALLÂ This is a cemetery located approximately 2 km away from Harem-i Şerif. It is known that it has existed since the so-called period of ignorance. Nowadays, it is also called Mecca Cemetery. Our Prophet once pointed to this place and said, "How beautiful is this graveyard." Here, there is the blessed tomb of Hazrat Haticetü'l Kübra (r. Anhâ), the mother of the believers, the first believer in our Prophet, his greatest material and spiritual supporter, the mother of six of our Prophet's seven children, and the graves of many companions, tabiin and righteous people. Abdullah Ibn Zubeyr (r.abhuma), Hz. Abu Bakr's elder daughters, Esma (r.anhâ), also Hz. The graves of many of the great companions of the Companions, such as Abu Bakr's son Abdurrahman (r.a.), Abdullah Ibn Omar (r.a.), Osman bin Talha (r.a.), are also here. Also Hz. The graves of the Prophet's sons Qasim and Abdullah are also here.. Heaven-ul Mualla is an important and sacred cemetery for us Muslims because of these aspects. It is among the holy places visited during Hajj and Umrah travels. SEVR CAVE Our Prophet (pbuh), Hz. It is the cave where our Prophet Abu Bakr stayed for 3 nights to hide from the polytheists during his migration from Mecca to Medina. First, Hz. Our Master Abu Bakr entered and checked whether there was anything harmful, and then our Prophet Muhammad honored us. During their stay here, Hz. Abu Bakr's son Abdullah was wandering among the polytheists during the day and bringing information at night. Our Prophet (pbuh) and Hz. Three miracles occurred during Abu Bakr's (r.a.) stay in this cave. These are as follows: Hz. A snake bit Abu Bakr's foot, our Prophet (pbuh) applied his holy saliva, and at that moment his pain went away and he was healed. After they entered, by God's command, spiders spread webs at the mouth of the cave and pigeons built nests. The polytheists came to the front of the cave, one of them wanted to search, Umayya bin Khalaf said to him; They gave up on entering the cave when they said, "What are you doing there? Have you lost your mind? Spiders had spread their webs and birds had built nests there before Muhammad was born." Hz. Abu Bakr; "When the polytheists approached the cave, their feet could be seen. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, if they bowed their heads, they would see us." Our Prophet (pbuh) said: "Shut up, Ebâ Bekr, the third of these two is Allah." Our Prophet (pbuh) spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights there. They hid in the cave for three days and nights as a precaution. The polytheists would conclude that they had moved away from the vicinity of Mecca. Three days later, Abdullah b., who was hired as a guide as previously agreed. Üreykit, with his own camel along with the two camels handed over to him, arrived at the foot of Mount Sevr at dawn on Monday and set off on the coastal road towards Medina-i Münevvere. ARAFAT Arafat is located in a flat area on the Taif road. It is the place where the foundation, which is the most important pillar of the pilgrimage, is performed. 25 km from Mecca. It is located in the southeast. This holy place is called "Arafat"; Coming from marifet, which means to know; Hz. It is rumored that it was said because our parents Adam and Eve met and got to know each other long after they landed on earth. According to another rumor, people confessed the greatness and majesty of God Almighty and their own helplessness here. As a matter of fact, Hz. Our mother Adam and Eve begged as follows in Arafat: “O our Lord! We have wronged our souls. If you do not forgive us and have no mercy on us, we will be among the devastated.” (A'raf, 23) In response to their pleas, Allah Almighty said "Arafat", which means "now you have known yourself". Because of these narrations, this region was named "Arafat". Today, people from all over the world meet and visit this area. Likewise, they declare their weakness and sins to God and ask for forgiveness. MINA Mina is a sacred place located 6 kilometers away from the Kaaba and within the borders of Harem-i Sharif. It means the place where Allah's mercy and blessings are abundant. It means blessing and blessing. There are many events that tell us why Mina is a blessed place. Here are some of them:
  • Adam wished for heaven here.
  • God Almighty is here. A blessing was given to Abraham and all his servants.
  • People gather here on Eid days and sacrifice here in the hope of getting closer to Allah and being safe from His punishment.
  • Mina is the place where Abraham stoned the devil and slaughtered a ram in return for his son Ishmael (a.s.).
  • The Masjid al-Hayf is located,
  • Mursalat and Surahs of Nasr were revealed here.
  • The first and second Aqaba allegiances with Ansar were made here.
  • This is the place where Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) spent the night during the days of Teşhrik.
MÜZDALIFE This holy place, located between Arafat and Mina, is called Müzdalifah. The Muzdalifah foundation is established here. It is located within the borders of Harem-i Sharif. Muzdalifah, Hz. Adam and Hz. It is the place where our Mother Havva had their wedding (met) after Arafat. Muzdalifah is known as the place where the Prophet was given the good news that those who had rights over him would be forgiven. For this reason, it is a very important place for us Muslims. It is obligatory to make a foundation in Muzdalifah. During the Farewell Hajj, after the Arafat foundation, the Prophet came to Muzdalifah, went down to a place near the Quzah hill, and performed the evening and night prayers together at night time. After resting until dawn, Prophet Muhammad got up early and performed the morning prayer. Then he rode his camel and came to the Kuzah hill and said to God Almighty; In line with the order "When you descend from Arafat, remember Allah near the Mas'ari Haram" He turned towards the qibla, said takbir and analysis, and prayed. He continued his dedication until it got dark. He left for Mina before sunrise. Time of the Muzdalifah Foundation: According to the Hanafis, who are based on the Prophet Muhammad's departure from Muzdalifah before sunrise, the time of the foundation begins with the birth of Fecri Sadiq (the time for the morning prayer begins) on the day of Eid al-Adha and ends with the sunrise. If he is in Muzdalifah even for a short time during this period, it becomes obligatory. According to the Hanafi sect, the foundation made before dawn or after sunrise is not valid. AKABA MASJID Located right next to the place of stoning the devil, the Aqaba Mosque is approximately 300 meters away from the place called the great devil. The Aqaba allegiance was made here. The First Aqaba Allegiance was made in the 12th year of our Prophet's prophethood with 12 people from the Evs and Hazrec tribes who came from Medina with the intention of pilgrimage. A year later, during the pilgrimage season, the second allegiance was made with 75 people. It is called "Biat'ül Akabe-i Kübra". It is among the must-see places among the places visited in Mecca.
